Joystick Jay
Joystick Jay (aka Jonas Aasheim) was born in Oslo, Norway back in ’86 and grew up listening to his shiny yellow walkman; with cassettes recorded from hi boomblaster.
When Jonas left kindergarten he got his first guitar and learnt all the cheesy beginner classics, but he soon realised that he needed something more.
Around 2000 he met up with Ollis Hergum, Paal Magnus, and Sindre Helkas and formed the notorious funk band Monkey Business. Even though funk and disco remained important to him, he soon got more into electronic music and when Monkey Business split up in 2002 (because of women, big egos, and hard liquor) he started Rubbel & BiT with Ollis Hergum (LektorOllis); a brilliant drummer, percussionist, and producer.
At high school Jonas financed his instrument addiction burning CDs for classmates, and when he discovered bands like Metro Area, Chateau Flight, Daft Punk, Bjorn Torske, and Royksopp, Jonas was forever hooked on deep melodic house music, and influence of deep- and Italo-house sounds is very evident in Jonas’ productions.
After leaving school, doing the involuntary military duty and travelling the world, Jonas now lives in Copenhagen, studying business, DJing, and making music.
